The Florida Aquarium is located on Tampa Bay, in
downtown Tampa, Florida. It is housed in a modern
glass, steel and concrete enclosure that offers heat
weary visitors a cool respite from the hot Florida sun.
Sharks are a perennial favorite among visitors, and
the huge viewing windows in most exhibits allow an
'up close and personal' view of the many species of
these fascinating ancient predators.
The largest reef exhibit is contained in its own room,
complete with subdued lighting, seating and music.
This is about as close to a marine reef that you can
get without getting wet.
Children of all ages seem to be captivated by the fascinating plants and animals represented by these
huge marine displays. Truly a unique experience that
the whole family can enjoy.
As
the light filters through the waters of this huge
artificial reef display, it is startlingly easy to forget
that that you don't have to watch the gauge on your
air tanks or hold your breath.
Anyone
interested in sharks will not be disappointed
by the numerous offerings here. And because sharks
are always on the move (they breath by swimming),
they never fail make an appearance.
